Kane Solutions, a global software provider delivering customized IT environments for enterprise clients, partnered with SnapSoft to migrate its complex IBM Cloud infrastructure to AWS. The migration aimed to enhance scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency while introducing a modern, containerized architecture. Through the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) and SnapSoft’s comprehensive assessment, Kane Solutions adopted a multi-account AWS Organizations setup, implemented a secure landing zone, and refactored core workloads to Amazon EKS. This engagement established a future-ready foundation for high-performance computing, improved security, and operational agility across 21 customer environments.

About the Customer

Kane Solutions is a leader in the development, integration and management of administration services and platforms. With a team of highly experienced and respected market practitioners, they are experts in all product stages. This expertise is supported by a proprietary client-based, web-enabled platform, IMS, which provides all components of the administrative framework within a single platform for a wide range of products and vehicles, including all forms of protection, investment, pension and savings products. They support enterprise clients across a multitude of global regions, including Europe, Middle East, Africa and the America’s.

With a focus on secure, compliant, and high-availability environments, the company supports critical workloads through a hybrid cloud model. Prior to the AWS migration, Kane Solutions operated primarily on IBM Cloud, hosting containerized Java applications and PostgreSQL databases for more than 20 clients. Seeking a unified, scalable, and security-enhanced architecture, Kane Solutions engaged SnapSoft to design and implement an AWS environment aligned with Well-Architected Framework best practices.

Customer Challenge

Kane Solutions faced increasing limitations with its legacy IBM Cloud infrastructure, including operational inefficiencies, scalability bottlenecks, and fragmented networking between client environments. Maintaining isolated workloads across 21 customer instances required extensive manual configuration and hindered performance optimization. Additionally, the company sought to improve disaster recovery capabilities, reduce data transfer complexity, and implement centralized governance for multi-account management. With its growth accelerating, Kane Solutions needed a unified migration strategy that minimized downtime, met strict compliance standards, and ensured secure data management across regions. The goal was to achieve full workload modernization while preserving service continuity for existing clients.

Why AWS?

AWS was selected for its extensive portfolio of managed services, global infrastructure, and proven framework for large-scale migrations. The platform’s regional flexibility and service maturity offered Kane Solutions the performance, reliability, and cost transparency it needed to scale confidently. AWS Organizations and Identity Center enabled secure multi-account governance, while the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) reduced both financial and technical risks during the transition. By leveraging AWS-native services such as Amazon EKS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Global Accelerator, Kane Solutions gained a highly available, fault-tolerant, and compliant foundation for its mission-critical workloads.

SnapSoft’s Contribution to the Solution

SnapSoft executed the migration through a phased MAP approach—Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate—beginning with a full architectural discovery and strategy design. The solution introduced an AWS Organizations-based multi-account structure, separating production and monitoring environments for enhanced governance. SnapSoft implemented secure VPCs per client, each with private and public subnets, isolated routing, and NAT gateways to enforce least-privilege access. Application workloads were refactored into Kubernetes clusters managed by Amazon EKS, supported by AWS Load Balancer Controller for traffic distribution and security. Data was migrated to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition for improved reliability and cost efficiency. Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Terragrunt automated environment provisioning and repeatability across 21 client VPCs. Additionally, AWS CloudWatch and GuardDuty strengthened operational visibility, while AWS Global Accelerator provided static IP resiliency and seamless regional failover between Frankfurt and Ireland.
